Mark Pedowitz, President and CEO of The CW Television Network, has made it clear that he will not renew Star-Crossed, or any other show he has canceled during his time in charge.
We have sent him letters, stars, postcards, and pasta, all of which The CW Television Network is now forwarding on to CBS, who owns the rights to Star-Crossed. It's time we go over Mr. Pedowitz's head and speak to his boss, Mr. Leslie Moonves, President and CEO CBS Entertainment. Postcards, Letters and Stars should all now be sent to: Leslie Moonves ℅ CBS Headquarters 51 W. 52nd Street New York, NY 10019-6188 Postcards and Letters should include one or more of the following to showcase our efforts:
A big piece of boycotting the CW is making sure they and their sponsors know why we are doing this. For us, Star-Crossed is a big part of it, but to keep from looking like angry fans, we have to make this about the bigger picture.
This is not only about the cancellation of Star-Crossed, but also the cancellation of all our favorite CW shows since Mark Pedowitz took over in 2011. #StarCrossed #Bloodlines #TheTomorrowPeople #Cult #TheCarrieDiaries #EmilyOwensMD #TheLAComplex #TheSecretCircle #Ringer #Nikita #Hellcats #LifeUnexpected #GossipGirl To make our voices heard, in addition to tweeting #BoycottTheCW, we also need to respond to tweets and FaceBook threads from the CW with how we feel. These should not be specific to any 1 show, but rather about how the network as a whole has done. For the Sponsors who support CW programming, we need to let them know we are boycotting the network. This can be done as simply as the tweet below: #Sponsors for @CW_network. Take your ads off the network, their ship is about to sink. Everyone should watch @netflix tonight. #BoycottTheCW This works for not only getting Sponsors attention, but also letting Netflix know we’re here and there are plenty of shows with huge fan bases, ready for the picking. The CW Television Network has proven to be disloyal to fans by canceling shows without allowing the story to end, promising movies to wrap up storylines, and then not delivering. We don’t have to take it anymore. Believe it or not, the power is in our hands, we just have to take it.
What would happen if every 90210, The Secret Circle, The Tomorrow People, and Star-Crossed fan suddenly stopped watching ALL CW programming? Programming is paid for with ad-time, purchased by companies wanting us to see their commercials and buy their products. You know what else is paid for with that ad-time? Salaries. Mr. Mark Pedowitz, President and CEO of The CW is making money every time we sit down and watch his network. That wouldn't be so bad if he delivered on his promises. For example: On January 13, 2013, the President of The CW Mark Pedowitz stated that though 90210 doesn't have a season 6 renewal in place, the show would most likely be back next year (possibly for the final season if it were to be canceled) due to him being a "big believer in giving fans a very satisfactory conclusion" for a long-running show. However, on February 28, 2013, Pedowitz announced that 90210 would end its run after five seasons and 114 episodes. Or if he took fans seriously: On July 17, 2014, at the TCA Press Tour - "I did receive 90 boxes of pasta this week," he laughed. "Look, we appreciate the fans and everything they do, and I gather they were upset. There just weren't enough of them to keep the show going forward, and so that's the rationale. But we appreciate their passion for the show. We understand that that's what makes shows work. In this case, there just weren't enough audience members to stay with it." And what about this comment, regarding The Secret Circle: On July 30, 2012, Pedowitz was asked, “Why didn't The Secret Circle connect like The Vampire Diaries did?” His response: “Not enough good-looking men, not enough sense of humor. Women do love men.” He even contradicts himself when it comes to online presence vs. ratings: Prior to its cancellation, The Tomorrow People star, Robbie Amell, suggested that it had a good shot at renewal due to its "established fan base" and international appeal. Mark Pedowitz didn’t agree, stating, "Primarily, The Tomorrow People was a great show - it just didn't have the same level of social engagement... that Beauty and the Beast gets." Now, if we were a vain audience, we might say we refuse to watch a network with this face behind it. But rather for us, it’s not about the face, it’s about the heart and soul of the man who owns the face. How can we support a network, backed by a man who cannot keep his word or even his story straight? We can't. It's time for action, starting now. Boycott The CW. Do not watch any of their programs, until they see that they don't tell us what is worthwhile, we tell them what we want to watch! As a gracious fandom, the Star-Crossed family is partnering with the Vampire Academy family to raise awareness and help one another out.
Both fandoms are trying to save their show/movie, members of the #VAFamily have agreed to help by signing our petition, in exchange for helping them with their crowd-funding campaign on IndieGoGo. A little bit about their campaign: [From the producers of the Vampire Academy Film] Four years ago we embarked on a journey to bring Richelle Mead’s beloved series, “Vampire Academy,” to the big screen. Upon securing the rights we immediately came to YOU, the fans, with our hopes for this franchise. Creating and building a social media presence ended up being the best decision we ever made. Through the ups and downs of these last years, YOU have stood by us and for that we are forever thankful. And now, here we are, back to square one. With over 360,000 film fans on our Facebook page and 47,000 Twitter followers - the one message we continue to receive is clear and simple: YOU WANT FROSTBITE. Exhausting all our resources these past six months, we have successfully funded the majority of the second film. However, our financiers have made one request before we are officially green lit. They want to see a large enough fan interest to warrant their investment. And so, we turn to YOU, the self-proclaimed #VAFamily to make this a reality. We are asking for our global fan base – US, Australia, Brazil, UK, Philippines, Mexico, Canada, Indonesia, India, Romania, Turkey, Greece, Germany, New Zealand, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Sweden, Malaysia, Croatia, Argentina, Algeria, Egypt, Spain, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Morocco, Slovenia, Serbia, Thailand, South Africa, Russia, Hungary, Venezuela, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Singapore, Bosnia, Herzegovina and Netherlands (to name a few) – to help us continue Rose and Lissa’s story. It has come to our attention that many of our fans never had the opportunity to see the first film in the theatre - and in fact, many of you are still waiting for the DVD to be released in your country. Therefore, our biggest concern moving forward is guaranteeing that YOU have access to the film. This is very important to us because we are asking you to put your faith in our team once more. Provided that our goal is met, we pledge to bring FROSTBITE directly to YOU via a digital download for those contributing $30 or over. What we are asking for is nothing new. Other films have achieved their own personal goals and we know, with your help, so can we. When we look back at what you have accomplished – MTV Movie Brawl Finals, Teen Choice Award Nominations, etc – we know that when the #VAFamily sets their sights on a goal, they always reach it. We need to raise 1.5 million to see Frostbite become a reality. If we raise more, it will only allow us to make an even better film for YOU. Per the request of the fans for a true book to film adaptation, our screenwriter, Piers Ashworth ("St.Trinian's"), has delivered! Only by reaching our full goal amount will we move forward, but with your help we know we can bring Adrian, Eddie, Tasha, Janine and the rest of the VA characters to life once more. We leave you with this thought…reaching our goal will not only green light FROSTBITE, it will bring us one step closer to SHADOW KISS! -Your VA Producing Team Stargazers can help by navigating to their page here and donating to make their movie become a reality. Remember, we may be in the same position down the road, and partnering with another fandom can only help us all. As you have all heard by now, Mr. Mark Pedowitz has said Star-Crossed just doesn’t have the numbers. Here’s another way for us to bombard him with evidence of our existence.
Send postcards from your country, state, city, to: Mark Pedowitz ℅ CW Television Network 3300 W Olive Ave Burbank, CA 91505 In addition, I think it’s time we pull out the big guns. Lets send postcards to the media, specifically the following people, who will be able to provide us the greatest impact: Ellen DeGeneres ℅ The Ellen DeGeneres Show 3400 Riverside Dr Burbank, CA 91522 Postcards should include one or more of the following to showcase our efforts:
What’s that about a flood? Oh, right, it hasn’t happened yet, but Stargazers, here’s your chance to make it rain.
Mark Pedowitz, the President of The CW, said, “... [for Star-Crossed] there just weren't enough fans.” Stargazers know this isn’t true, but clearly Mr. Pedowitz doesn’t, so we have to show him. Starting immediately, the campaign is as follows: Write letters.
Create Stars:
Send Spaghetti
Send everything, individually, to: CW Television Attn: Mark Pedowitz 3300 W Olive Ave Burbank, CA 91505 Let’s flood his office with our love for Star-Crossed. Earlier this week, Stargazers sent 1,822 pounds of uncooked spaghetti to the office of The CW President, Mark Pedowitz to illustrate their love for Star-Crossed.
His response? At the Television Critics Association Press Tour earlier today: "Pedowitz says he received 90 boxes of pasta this week from angry "Star-Crossed" fans. "We appreciate their passion for a show. We understand that's what makes it work," he says, but adds that there just weren't enough fans. Pedowitz adds that "Tomorrow People" didn't generate as much on-air or on digital as they hoped." Stargazers are now asking themselves, "What more do we have to do to show him how many of us there are and how much we love this show?" This is not the end of the fight to save Star-Crossed. What do you think their next move should be? Now that The CW has received our spaghetti, it’s time to push a little harder. We cannot let them forget about us, and more importantly, Star-Crossed.
Stargazers everywhere should make a star. Size, shape, material, doesn’t really matter, what does matter is that you include your city and country of origin on your star in some way or another, be it construction paper and marker, or Cardboard and macaroni. If it’s legible, we want it. We are starting immediately. Make your stars, take pictures of them, and starting Thursday, July 17, 2014, post them to Twitter, using #StarCrossed and #SCSpirit so we can find them.In addition, please send all stars to: Irene Buffkin 1948 Sweet Olive Ct. Jax, FL 32218 Stars will be collected, a box filled, and then sent to The CW in a week’s time. That means we need stars and we need them now! Make 1, 2, 5! Have your family and friends help by making some. The more, the better! Please note, you do not have to wait until Thursday to send your stars. Check back at StarCrossedStarGazers.weebly.com for further updates. Save the show!
A show of support from fans could help enormously. The KEY is that if you write "Star-Crossed" on the package, it'll get sent to the fan mail dungeon, and no one will ever see it. Letters should/can be sent to: Mark Pedowitz CW Television 3300 W Olive Ave Burbank, CA 91505 DO NOT WRITE STAR-CROSSED ON THE ENVELOPE!
